• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Ade_gp 0.0.96

Hi Don , it's time for the Cigar.:)

I have all my trees back !!

As usual I'll have a few questions:As you have seen all my GP are on layer40
Is it better if I give them different layer numbers ? I am now compiling with the third option but I don't see any numbers (1000,500,...)

I am happy , but unfortunately not smoking.

Best regards.

Floda

There are three text boxes on that dialog. Enter 2000, 5000 and 500, going from top to bottom.

For further detail please refer to the user manual.

Hi Don.

I saw those numbers in the manual but I don't see them in ADE as you can see in my previous thread. Please read the attachment.

Best regards.

You have to enter the numbers. The ones you see, i.e., Unlimited, airport, are default values - just waiting to be overwritten. You can make them anything you want, but I suggest starting with my recommended values.

Don

I assume that Jon will make those the default values when you choose that option in the next ADE beta?

Hi Don;)

I got it, thanks.
I am a slow starter but sooner or later I get it.

Thank you for your patience.

Best regards

He doesn't have to. They are constants in ADE_GP.

Found another little issue with 0.0.96(c). For FSX only, if a triangle of a large poly exceeded the 100m limit in both latitude and longitude, the partitioning of longitude was not completed properly.

It now is.

Hi Don and Tom and everyone!

I thought that the tree thief was caught when the third box was in unlimited
position, but as you can see there is a difference when I add the number 2000. Just wanted to confirm it with two pictures.

Good luck to all of us.

Floda, the third box defines the group size. If the group size is the (default) "Airport", the result re autogen suppression will be as if you had used the second option.

I'm surprised, however, that 2000 (I assume you mean in the Group Size box)had any effect since all your objects appear to be within 1500 m of each other. Perhaps there's an object "out on the back 40" I didn't notice. But, a "win is a win".

But, I do need to take another look at the code to see why 2000 worked.

Don

I would think that the smaller you make that number the closer the autogen will appear to your GP objects, since you have made the bounding box smaller. This will be true especially for odd shaped GP objects, since the bounding box is a rectangular box (and might even be oriented east/west/north/south for all I know) and that could incorporate a lot of territory in certain cases if you use Unlimited?

Thanks, Tom. The bounding box is always "x/y".

The current confusion about "2000" is that Floda suggests its a substitution for "Unlimited". But, "Unlimited" is only the default for the two visibility text boxes. The default value for Group Size is "Airport". I had previously suggested entering 500 in this box - which would have generated the experienced results. If 2000 was, in fact, the entry in this box, it should have had no effect.

Incidentally, since the "autogen-suppression fix" is always applied, smaller group sizes is not about reducing the size of the bounding box (which will occur) but, rather, about reducing the number of entries in each group.

The autogen-suppression fix "defeats" the bounding box. Too many entries in a group defeats the autogen suppression fix. This is better described in my post yesterday - which is supposed to be a sticky - entitled "ADE Ground Polys and autogen Suppression".

Another problem I'm afraid.

Compiling with 0.96(d) shows gaps in straight line segments. It is fine when compiled with 0.95(h).

Files sent by mail.

George, here's the same place on my system using 96(d) and the file you just sent.

I'm just suggesting that it might be more complicated than we think. Perhaps (like too many GP objects in one group) there are other factors at work...

I didn't know Norman was involved, but it wouldn't have made any difference. As you can see, things are OK on my system.

If you send me your ADE_GP.asm file, I'll compare it with mine to see if the problem is on the compute side or the display side.

I've got to go out for a while, so it will be this afternoon (my time) before I can do anything.

Don

Hi all of you :)

Just to avoid any kind of misunderstanding I'll sen a screenshot of my settings. B.t.w. I think we should give Don a little break so he can smoke his cigar:rolleyes:

Best regards
Floda

I didn't know Norman was involved.

Norman and I are working on a series of airports, he is doing some of them and I am doing others.

He is working on W7 and I on XP. It was he who warned me of the gaps in the straight lines.

Since I have it working with .95(h), I would need to recompile with 0.96(d). I will try it later.
