• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Aerofly 2 Released; Beta; Steam Games

Comparisons will not work. Aerofly is totally different. Same for X-Plane. You cannot compare a sim to another totally different sim. Like comparing a Formula 1 car to a BMW 7 series to a Corvette. All three are cars, all three are totally different.

EDIT: You 'could' compare Flight Sim X with FSX Steam Edition and Flight School. Those are all three the same platform. Same for P3D. It uses the same sim architecture. Those could all be compared with each other. But comparing FSX to XP... how? So different... Same for Aerofly. FSX and P3D and FlightSchool cannot handle photo real scenery. Etc...

Pffffttt! have you met the human race? :stirthepo

These sims are gonna be compared, as in "FSX has XYZ, does Aerofly have it too?"

"X-plane does (place name of thing X-plane does here) will Aerofly match that?"

Logic will have absolutely not a thing to do with it. The human race only intermittently does logic. :):):)

(Now, having completed my turn as today's devils advocate, pardon me while I go tell some kids to get off my lawn)

This is true...

Reminds me when the fuel crisis hit America. Everyone was saying.. 'but what is the mileage?' lol... Getting a Lamborghini... 'What kind of mileage does it get? 12 MPG??? NO WAY!' lol...
Getting a 200,000 USD car, worried about a tank of fuel.

Nice reflections. Are they realtime rendered or an environment map?

From what I can tell in the sim, its reflecting the environment. I tried watching it against the Learjet as it was landing once and it looked like everything was real time reflections.

They actually have to setup the reflections in the TMD file, which is the primary config file for the model, animations, sound, etc.

Amazing how it can have this kind of realism and run like glass..

Sometimes I feel a bit sorry for the Aerofly developers. Many people are trying the sim and giving very helpful suggestions, but its almost as if people are expecting the company to include sixteen 2016 payware quality planes as the default, perfect in every important aeronautic detail.

I understand the urge, and Ipacs seems more than willing to accommodate the requests, but I often wonder if that's a fair expectation.

They should hire me as as CSR then. I'd give those naggers a piece of my mind about unreasonable demands regarding aircraft quality and feature sets.

I agree. IPACs needs to know there are some very weird people that ask for huge things that are probably at this point just not possible. When I see people asking for such things, I freak. They (the spoiled children) want everything right now, and for a super cheap price. The spoiled children do not realize it takes time to make all of that.

IPACs are awesome, though. Good people. Keeping a friendly, positive attitude is key. I just hope the 'children' do not run their energy out of them.

Aerofly FS 2 Update Version 2.0.1EA3.46

Dear Aerofly users,

here is another intermediate update for Aerofly FS 2. We are still busy working on new airplanes and regions and of course more features, but this stuff will take some more time, so please be a little bit more patient.

2016-11-04

  • Improved VR rendering performance ( over 25% when using the HTC Vive and around 10% when using Oculus )
  • Enabled aileron, elevator and rudder control using keys or buttons (not the recommended way to control an airplane, but you even can land smoothly with proper trim and throttle management)
  • Fixed XBox and similar controllers: combined trigger assignment to rudder and brake works again
  • Fixed Baron 58 turn indication
  • Added COM and NAV tuning via radio management units in Learjet 45 and King Air C90
  • Fixed F18 autopilot trim interaction
  • Fixed coarse tuning steps for NAV and COM
  • Added max positive / negative G can be reset on aerobatic aircraft
  • Changed basic autopilot on Baron58 and C172 softer on bank and pitch controls

There have been two "Stealth" updates of the program recently, with no word of exactly what was done. Accordingly however, Jet Pack, an Aerofly developer, has altered his "Cold and dark" mod to work with these unspecified changes.

Hello again,

The cold and dark mod of the Cessna 172 has been updated to work with the latest early access version of the Aerofly FS 2:

Seems Aerofly FS 2 just received its 1st Steam price drop. Its not by much, but interesting nonetheless.

[Official] Preliminary VIVE controller support

Dear Aerofly users,

We have just published a new update in our Beta channel that adds preliminary support for VIVE controllers to Aerofly. Using the VIVE controllers you may now navigate the Aerofly menus and you can also interact with some airplane cockpit instruments.

We would love to hear your feedback regarding this new feature.

We will of course add support for Oculus touch controllers once we can test them ourselves.

Some more interesting News/Speculation. Orbx has announced some projects for the new year, one of which possibly hints at a foray into the world of Aerofly:

http://www.avsim.com/topic/499655-so.../#entry3527374

"Top Secret Projects

Now to the juicy stuff! Next year we have a number of top-secret projects being started. All of these are big budget, big investment, risky, adventurous and a little bit scary for us. I know I am going to sound deliberately vague, but understand we are investing deep into six figures for these initiatives so it's important to keep things within the company for now. Don't worry, I think you know how much we as a team love showing you new stuff, so things will be revealed soon enough.

Project A - Massive. A huge investment in new tech, new tools, new apps and new staff. It will surprise many of you, and delight you all. It will focus on both Europe and North America. It will perform like nothing you have experience in your simming life. It will support VR. It will be a VFR flyer's wet dream.*It will be sold on OrbxDirect. Oh, and it will be 64-bit."
