• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Aerofly 2 Released; Beta; Steam Games

Interesting.. ORBX+Aerofly?
No, ORBX is making his own sinulator. Cannot remember the name but I know ia related with this company:

http://www.simthetiq.com/

Don't know if they are providing also support to Aerofly, but... New simulator and distributed by Steam, is what I have for now.

Many many new sims comming to scene. Interesting situation.

Aerofly seems within the realm of the possible.

Orbx and testing the XPlane water also seems reasonable, and continuing commitment to P3D is a no-brainer.

Orbx jumping into the water and making its own sim seems a bit insane from a business perspective, though. I would have to wait for more proof on that one.

Many thanks. Very interesting.

An amazing platform. If only they could take on a game studio to build out the rest of the world in 'quick time' (several months, within a year) and get the rest of the planet in it. I dont know though about how much the memory footprint would be. Going from 3 states to the entire planet would probably require 2 to 6 terrabytes. I dont know. However, they have shown the world what is possible in a high detail, high output platform.

I dont know. Might be the best thing they ever did. They have done the 'world' now for simulators. The next big thing would be the sim platform itself.
We'll see.

NOTE: Mind you, the ORBX world is 'tiles', not actual world scenery of real locations, like Aerofly does. Massive difference. And ORBX use 'existing ORBX cloned building models' to spread across the countrysides of 'continent kits'. (For those that do not know).

With XPlane finally taking off, P3D coasting along, and the shark-Fin of DTG seen plainly cruising back and forth just offshore, (not to mention Aerofly) why would anyone else jump into what looks to become an abruptly crowded market?

Also, if Orbx has its own sim, isn't it then kind of in competition then with its very own partners, like DTG/P3D?

Meanwhile........

Aerofly FS 2 Update Version 2.0.1EA3.66

9:11am

Dear Aerofly users,

We are happy to announce that we have a new update shortly before christmas. The major new feature in this update is the F-15 fighter jet. We also made some minor fixes to the tree and shadow rendering, that might result in better performance. We hope you enjoy this update.

Also new is the New York region as a DLC. This region features over 10 new airports in and around New York and also adds new high resolution aerial images.
Important note: This new region requires a VERY GOOD and powerful 3D graphic card. Please reduce the graphic setting 'Building density' to lower values if you do observe performance issues. When flying over New York in VR, we strongly recommend to use a NVIDIA GeForce 10x0 type card for smooth performance.

Thank you everybody for supporting us so far during the Early Access phase. This release option here on Steam really helped us to better shape our flight simulator. So stay tuned for more updates in 2017.

Here is the list of changes so far:

2016-12-21

  • Added the F-15
  • Added New York region as a DLC
  • Improved tree rendering with less graphics card memory usage
  • Fixed zoom speed is independent of frame rate
  • Added preliminary Vive controller support for menu and cockpit interaction
  • Fixed device list in controller menu can be scrolled to display more than 8 connected devices
  • Changed HUD keeps vertical orientation in 'follow' view
  • Changed minimum HUD size is smaller
  • Changed only minimal HUD is shown when in 'external' and 'fly by' views

Well....... dang. I'm kind of blown away. I was anticipating Ipacs might do like Drzwiecki Design did with their version of New York and use a google sketchup type thing with low poly (and kind of distorted) buildings, etc. Instead, they apparently decided to individually model nearly every damn building in the city! (and a good part of the surrounding area)

At well over 200fps on my machine, and to extend airports all the way out into Connecticut. The ground textures are almost eye-cuttingly sharp and I think the possibilities are staggering for this sim, if other companies jump in on this.

AWESOME! I look forward to checking it out. Many thanks Devon for the heads up.

My goodness.. That is awesome...

That recording, is that through an addon you installed or is that part of Steam? How did you do that?

Very smooth frames. Some really neat old buildings. Some wild, historic architecture there. You can see that the buildings are not cloned. There must be a ton of textures in the NYC package.

Awesome awesome...

The recording is through the Nvidia Shadowplay software (GeForce Experience)

And yes, a lot of unique buildings. Way uptown I found places like Grants tomb, Riverside church, etc.

Very detailed.

Many thanks Devon. I have to get that.

Just bought NYC, downloading. Will be a long while. 7+ Gigs. :)

Note that the package is called North Eastern US. So it must have several states, I am guessing. Devin, you said it had Delaware. That would explain it. Its not just NYC.

Nice....

Bill

EDIT: Loaded up, late at night here, so I just did a quick flight in the F15 around Motauk. Really nice F15, of course, and really enjoying the new scenery. I'll check out NYC in the morning.

woooo hoooo!
