• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Airbus A350 XWB

Did I already say that I love the finnair livery?
OH-LWA was also the aircraft that took me to Heathrow IRL

Although it seems to be me that the Finnair logo is too small, but nevermind its just a test after all and im sure I'll get to paint the A350 one day..

Well you'll probably get an opportunity soon ;) At this rate I'm starting to catch up with AB them selfs, as the following is in the paintbay as I speak (or atleast I think). Why this one? Well because of the text possition, which I needed to verify ;) So it's not just for fun, although there is that ofcourse (it's great seeing your creation take a shape you've seen in an AB news bulletin).

Fly, enough with the fun and games. Let's see some of those liveries in the skies of the sim with clouds and all that good stuff. ;)

I think Paul noticed me using a glossy node to render the glancing new aircraft look instead of an FSX compatible alpha channel... And he's challenging my bluff....
I can tell you though they do actually work "in-sim", but look very stail (because of the lack of an alpha channel or any details).
I'll be trying if I can create an alpha channel tough, aswell as fix the gears, unwrap the engines and make a realistic glass material... One at a time though ;)

Looking at these photos gave me an idea for livery thumbnails! The thumbnails should be of a render or a photo of the aircraft partially sticking out of a hanger.

These are the current Thumbnails...

and these are the latest liveries:

(fail on the engines BTW)

But in sim it looks rubbish:

I don't quite understand how to get specular/reflective maps working (or what they should be like for that matter). I think that (specular/reflective maps) and details would massivly improve it ....

Have you reviewed the FSX SDK section Environment Kit\Modeling SDK\FSX Materials? The tea pots tell it all.

TAM just received their first A350... Just to make sure you don't get bored :) Anyway, it is a real joy to follow the progress on this project.

Did read through it, but relating it to Blender has got my gears grinding... maybe tomorrow will bring more luck ;)
