• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Airbus A350 XWB

ILA 2016 is over and was as successful as ever, despite less flying displays and less exhibitors.

good to hear! I should attend such an event but thusfar I've only visited millitary/historic/stunt-team airshows such as Sanicole.

I don't recall posting this particular animation but in case I've already posted this hear I'm sorry but since Dave brought up the gear kinematics I thought I'd show it...

The kinematics look nice already. :)
Just two things about the down lock: There seems to be some relative movement at its central bearing just after half the animation. And I think it may snap in a bit quicker at the end. Keep in mind it is gravity driven. ;)

Both of those things are good points, I'll be looking at it a bit closer ;)
Meanwhile I just wanted to make this livery because I like the airline.... and who knows in a few years they might take delivery of a few examples of the type...

Nah, the lock seems perfectly timed (watch at 1:20), but the initial unfolding might be way too fast actually.
Gravity driven doesn't mean undamped. ;)

Actually Dave is correct as what you see in that short video I made is blenders interpretation of this animation with keyframes ranging from 0 to 100 with 30 FPS making the gear retraction 3.33333... long. FSX will however see this as a full gear retraction with a set speed of some 16-17 second (14-15 without the door). So you should imagine that everything takes about five times as long... I don't recall if youtube has a funtion for 1/5 compression but I'll upload something with realistic speed tomorrow to show you what I mean.

Thanks AASE! I was thinking about adjusting some other parts aswell, mainly smoothing stuff out and retouching the belly, this will not influence the paintkit layout but will at most give a slight adjustment to the basic AO layer (I think that would be the biggest concern for painters at this stage, they do not need to worry)

Thank you Holgi!
I've actually been thinking about it and it seems most of the mesh is obsolete to what I can do today, a human seems to be able to learn quite a lot in timespan of one year. So I'm looking into the possibility of pretty much redoing most of the mesh and re-using some parts in the newer mesh. The benefit ofcourse is that it will be more detailed, better FPS and better looks. However it will increase the development time and ofcourse it might make the Painkit somewhat different... I'll be thinking about it.

Thank you Holgi! I'm sure you will be able to enjoy the painting in due time, for now however some work is back to square one with some interesting problems such around the curved windows...
Anyhow I've also been reading this months edition of Airliners World, which was published yesterday (June 14th) at the third anniversary of the maiden flight of this highly advanced aircraft. A 24-page long article (according to the cover, I did not count them myself) on the aircraft is included. It's a rather interesting article, the usual facts such as dual type-rating, the fact that five test aircraft were used for certifications and that the design has changed over the course of two years between '04 and '06. However also some stuff I didn't fully know yet. For instance I hadn't yet heard about the system that apperantly smoothens the airflow over the wing when encounting turbulance, a nice feauture that was first fitted to the A380 in '05.
Also it seems not only is Cathay Pacific sending it's A350 on the first long haul to Duesseldorf (sorry somehow my keyboard refuses to make an Umlaut) but so is Singapore Airlines, good to know for thwne I'll be spotting there.
It also mentioned Aeroflot still has -800s on order dispite the aircraft being dropped from the development list in 2014. What is not mentioned, weirdly is that Asiana also still has open orders for the -800. All other orders have either been converted to the -900 or the A330NEO-programme.

I'll be updating on new stuff soon!

I don't understand this world anymore...
I always thought Flight Simulator was to give people the feeling they can fly (although it is on their computer). However, everyone here wants to paint this lovely bird, instead of flying her :p

But she is looking good @F747fly !
