• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Compiling doesn't save my changes

Hi!
Im very new to ADE and scenery in general.
I have found my local airport for fsx but I want to use it in P3D v4.4. I have used it in earlier versions of P3D v4, but now it doesnt seem to work anymore. I think I am doing something wrong with the BGL file and ADE.

The thing is there is a bit of autogen right next to the runway, like trees and bushes. Before I reinstalled my computer I just made a Flatten mask class map exclude autogen polygon (Airport background) compiled the airport and replaced the old BGL file. It worked.
Thing is i forgot to save the BGL file from the old harddrive, so I thought i'll just do the same thing again with ADE. But now when i compile the airport the work ive done inside doesnt seem to save. If i open the bgl file again after compiling all my work is gone. It looks like the original file.
I have given ADE full permisions and also running as admin. Also the scenery folder have full permissions.

When you create terrain polygons, ADE compiles two BGL files (at least) - the main ADE airport BGL file, and a __CVX file containing the ground polygons. When you open the airport from the BGL file into ADE, you indeed lose the terrain polygons, since they are in a different BGL file which ADE does not read.

And if you are not moving the _CVX BGL file into an active scenery folder along with the ADE airport BGL file, then the terrain polygons will not appear in the sim.
