• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Dash 8 100/300

This looks absolutely amazing - you work so fast! If there is space on the beta sign me up too!

Well, I have an aircraft I REALLY want/need, but nobody loves it, all wants it to get rid of air traffic :/ so..... no A340 :( (Yes, I like the A340, I assume what Im saying) :)

If you are doing a A340, I am going to sponsor the cockpit textures! The A340 is really a very, very great aircraft!

And thank you all for your comments on my textures... I am still improving the overhead textures... Moken is really fast!

well, I would love to do the A340 :), I could restart it :) but I also have to improve my 3D skills :) (Aircraft addonds must me very detailed))

and I must say, your textures are truely amazing

Looking great mate!

Funny to see this as I've actually just started flying these again from the left seat. If you need any help from a technical point of view, sing out!

Just a picture out of photoshop:

That's the first project where I have a lot high resolution photos of every panel in the cockpit. That's great because the textures will look much more realistic, anyway I have to say that I have to edit these photos very strongly, so in the end there is not much left of the original photos...

Best way to do it, really.

At the end of it all, it is all your own work, but still quality is very real.

That's kind of the reason why I am hesitant to use panel photos in my textures. Fixing the perspective distortion, variations in lighting, and losing the flexibility of layers seems like an equal or greater effort than just doing it all by hand. Of course, the end result will probably appear more realistic, but unless I have near-perfect photos I'd rather hand paint.

Yours look phenomenal though. ;)

Oh, you are right. The correcture of the perspective distortion is done in a few seconds, and, to be honest, the only things I am using from the photos is the "base plate" so the lettering, lines, and so on I am creating by hand. I have really a huge amount layers in photoshop, and I am quite happy that I don't need more dirt-layer or so on.

But I also get perfect photos of the real cockpit...

some of you mention I'm so fast! (thank for that) i only have a few hours available almost daily for fsdesign, (work, dinnertime, family time and so on).
But when one has access to a real dash 8 and have taken a bunch of pictures and have included measuring tape, then you have everything you need, then it goes pretty fast for you get everything right the first time! you no longer have to trawl ailiners.net, JetPhoto etc etc for photos.

Great work on the textures Matthias!
