• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Kennedy Space Center Scenery for MSFS2020

Holly schmolly guacamolie  That is insane! And the frame rates are okay? Really, that is incredible. Kudos to your 3D guy. Looking forward sending some $$ your way soon.

Thanks! :D Yes, the frame rates are good, my baseline rig is a Lenovo gaming laptop with a lowly GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, and I am getting 40-60 fps. That's in a drone mode, mind you. It really really helps if the LODs are done right. I went back and started fine tuning LODs on all my 3D assets.

Hi everyone!

I am beyond thrilled to be able to announce to you that we have released our Kennedy Space Center Scenery for MSFS2020 on Microsoft's Marketplace yesterday, AND, Microsoft has decided to feature our scenery on their Marketplace entry tile on MSFS2020 main page!!! We are still in a holding pattern re XBox release, but things should be sorted out shortly (a few minor visual defects specific to XBox and not to PC, for some reason).

We have also had our first YouTube review by one of the FS-specific YT review channels, check it out: (he is a self proclaimed NASA fanatic so he is obviously a bit biased about this title, but we don't mind ;) )

We are already at work on the update that will feature launching rockets with and a few other improvements, so check out this thread for continuous updates to this project!

Fast Times Vero didn't exaggarate anything! Those first video impressions are insane indeed. Congrats to this fantastic addon and hopefully a lot of honour in any way!

It must be so gratifying to finally see it released on Marketplace, and getting the really positive reviews. I saw in the description you mentioned something about SpaceX, are you talking about east coast SpaceX launches? I happened to be at the Boca Chica site a few months ago, there's an old freeware scenery of that which is badly out of date and I was thinking about doing a basic scenery of that since I took some pics.

I just grabbed a copy of this title, and I am absolutely blown away! Nothing was exaggerated in that video - everything you promised was delivered! I can't believe how well the time era switches are executed! I can't wait to see rocket launches as well!

A few CONTRUCTIVE critiques: ;)

Animated crawler treads - yes please! Not an issue when viewed from afar, but getting up close to the crawler, it looks a bit odd seeing them drag across the gravel.
Object spawning: It all works well, but sometimes it takes a few clicks to get the rocket I want to the position I want. I'm wondering if this can be improved somehow.
Apollo Saturn: Some of the tower hoses appear disconnected/hanging in the air. Not an issue at all, but would probably look better if they were going somewhere.

Otherwise, fantastic scenery, I couldn't be happier with my purchase!

Thanks! Regarding SpaceX:
  • No, we were talking about the SpaceX Launch Pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center. Perhaps you are not aware, SpaceX has a large operation from that area.
  • Since Space Shuttle Program ended in 2011, NASA leased Launch Pad 39A to SpaceX, and kept Launch Pad 39B for themselves (SLS/Artemis).
  • SpaceX uses LC39A for most of the Falcon and Falcon Heavy launches.
  • SpaceX partially covered crawlerway towards the LC39A and built a large hangar on it, right in front of the pad ramp.
  • There is also an old Space Shuttle Era LUT (Launch tower) on the Pad39A which SpaceX kept, but painted it black to make it look "cool" ;) and added their own crew access arm for manned Falcon launches.
  • These changes are reflected in our scenery - if you select SpaceX/Artemis era, you will see a SpaceX hangar and a parking lot dynamically placed on top of crawlerway. Other eras (Shuttle and Apollo) show how the area looked up to 2011.
  • SpaceX area does NOT spawn Falcon or Falcon heavy at the moment, but we will ad those at some point, in one of our updates.
I hope that clarifies it!

Nice Job! Congrats,
I was also thinking about making this scenery but you did way better than I could have!

@Marionettework Further to my previous post, this is the LATEST satellite imagery that I obtained through my North Korean sources. This shows the expansion of the SpaceX facilities on the Pad 39A itself, where it appears they are building a full Starship Launch facility. Circled left is their "normal" Falcon/Heavy falcon" launch infrastructure, and circled on the right is their new Starship facility (you can clearly see the tower with rocket grabbing pincers and a huge fuel tank).

Not sure, but they MAY be abandoning Boca Chica area, as they have frequently faced environmental concerns, air traffic restrictions, noise complaints and sometimes restrictive FAA regulations. I think KSC was chosen to be a launch site since the 1950's and is far more suited to this, and not a subject to such stringent restrictions.

(kidding about North Korean sources - it is on Apple Maps 😀 ... Google maps and Bing maps have much older imagery)

Thanks!! Make sure you check out the historical hardware by activating different space exploration eras through the in-game panel "KSC Controller"!

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to give you all a sneak peek at the new features we are working on! We are making excellent progress on the on-demand dynamic rocket launches! The launch physics is completed!! We have all the launch parameters in:
  • custom rocket launch sound
  • engine fire sequence
  • thrust buildup
  • liftoff
  • azimuth roll
  • pitch maneuver
  • gravity turn
We are now working on the 3D materials for the launch effects (shown in the screenshot, SRB plume and SSME plume), and the next stage will be custom plume VFX.

Stay tuned!

 You got to be kidding me!!! This looks absolutely spectacular!!! I can't believe how, EVERY time you post something, you guys are pushing the limits!

More info, please!! Is this a baked-in animation? Or are you actually moving the scenery in the world? When can we expect this update? Will it be free?

Hi, thanks for your enthusiasm! No, not a "baked-in" animation. We have a vector based physics model and are moving an actual SimObject along a realistic flight path, identical to real launches from that location. Yes, this is an update to our Kennedy Space Center Scenery, and is completely free to current customers. As we promised, we are delivering on-demand launch capability for all 3 launch systems that we have created. We are hoping to be done by the end of this month.
