• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MV-22B Osprey

That does look pretty sharp. Looking forward to this.

And let's get some proper MARINE paints for this baby!
for marine will be soon going there after some minor flight dynamic done. because marine version has different configuration. fuel, weight and absolutely paint color. plus need help what color using by marine, in code color much more better.

Amazing model inside and out.

There's some info on the Aircraft.cfg fuel parameters on this page:

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-au/library/cc526949.aspx#mozTocId38401

I would have thought that the flightplan would calculate only the fuel needed for the trip, so shouldn't be affected by the aircraft's fuel capacity. All you would need to do is specify the position of the tanks and their capacity etc, as shown in the fuel section of the above link. I think the flight plan fuel usage would be a totally separate issue based on the flight alone, and nothing to do with the aircraft.cfg.

I'm sure there are more knowledgeable answers to be found in the other sections of this site also.

Cheers,
yes, i gathering around there but didn't get any progress. I want to know how the flightplan calculate fuel need for trip, which parameter use by flightplan. so the goal is fuel needed in flightplan not too far enough from the "actual sim" when fly on that flightplan, and user no need to calculate using another thing just follow flightplan.
now just playing on

[generalenginedata]
fuel_flow_scalar = ???

i using fuel_flow_scalar to make fuel to be burn close enough from mv22b flight manual. it close enough for flight that mention on flight manual but fuel needed in sim flightplan is have different how much fuel needed for trip. just need "close" is more than enough, because fly have many parameter that need more or less fuel to be burn.

got differences between blueprint and real aircraft photo. make small reshape external model and make major reshape for internal model.

is anyone know where i can gathering about engine/propeller thrust? i have desire speed on cruise but when engine idle ( throttle = 0), but speed did not reduce on level flight or slowly reduce then stop reduce around 200 kts. i want to lower speed around 150kts.
playing around with aircraft.cfg [Turbineenginedata] section static thrust and air file in drag component, but no luck.

Thanks Ed, but i don't know why Rob didn't answer my permission ( about 1 years ago, absolutely for freeware) till know i don't have an answer.
in my point of view Rob build tilt gauge for Alphasim now Virtavia V-22 and maybe he has some connection or what ever it is, that's why he didn't answer my request of permission.

i need advice if
i upload my project without tilt gauge from Rob, but i add some text how to add tilt gauge working on my project. find the file on the net and add it by them self. it is legal or illegal

this Rob said in readme.txt inside the tilt rotor gauge folder

I just stumbled onto this thread accidentally, since I hardly ever visit this sub-forum.

If your name is Maryadi ......:
Since I keep almost all relevant Email correspondence, I was able to trace back our Email communication last year (July/August 2015) and even in 2014.
Your last EMail to me caught me at a bad moment, because I was going on a long holliday (as I replyed); and I haven't heard from you since.

As I explained to you then, my VSTOL XML gauge isn't the problem to include.
I have no problem to include it as-is, and I have never refused permission to anyone as far as I can remember (in payware or freeware projects).
What I DON'T want, is that people are changing my XML VSTOL code themselves, because complaints usually finds it's way back to me somehow. I learned that lesson the hard way.
Moreover, in my experiance (especially for new-build models) the VSTOL behavior, control and visual animations can be made so much better when I tweak it for a specific addon.
Which I usually gladly do, and have done for many addons in the past 10 years. For free, and for freeware AND payware projects.

But as I also explained to you (since I understood you wanted to release this MV-22B as payware/"donationware"), my XML gauges are only part of the VSTOL solution.
Because it requires the inclusion of a module created by Doug Dawson, and interfacing to Pete Dowson's FSUIPC.
So, for payware, you need their permission too.

If you have that permission by now, or if you now intend to release this MV-22B as freeware, don't hesitate to Email me again.
Because your MV-22B looks like a great addon, and I'm more then willing to make a "special" VSTOL implementation for that.

Regards,

Rob Barendregt

Thanks Rob for your concern. YES for the start I want this became payware as I mentioned to you in my email. But after the project continue there many nice people that teach me how to make this add on as you can see. finally I decide to make it freeware.
and yes i still need you to help me make some modification from your gauges. your gauge is great, this still working good even in P3D v3.

Hi Maryadi,

Thank YOU for making this allready outstanding model; as a few guys here said earlier: you have come a long way with all you've learned sofar in modelling ....
And with your English, for that matter.... ;)

I don't know if anyone else is following this thread, but if you do:

Unfortunately, the pictures above don't truly visualize what Maryadi has actually modelled here, unless you know exactly what to look for; if you would be able to test the model (like I do) as it is now, you would be truly amazed.
Since it has become my main "mission" in FS design to try and get this VSTOL-related stuff to the next level (in terms of realisme, and within the absolute limits of FSX/P3D of course), I can safely say that in the Tiltrotor category-of-aircraft addons (freeware and payware), this model, in its current state allready, is by far the best I've ever seen.

So I'm very glad to have the oppertunity to work with Maryadi on this Tiltrotor.

Cheers,

Rob

Thanks guys for your kindly and support. Me is nothing, that all because of your effort.
Jonathan bleeker is my programming mentor (C++ and xml). He was my trully and the only one mentor I have in this hobbies. Thank you Jonathan, but I still need learn more from you, my programming logic is very bad and I try to understand it.
Rob Barendregt was the guys thats make this Osprey fly in FSX/P3D as the should be like in realism. I sent him my project, wow that many remark i must do:(. But thats I need, need somebody to check and give me advice. There much more better if have many point of view (but not too much) for better result.
I trying to make a video and still struggling to make it happen. There many limitation i had.
I hope i can finish this as my first version and give the simmer chance to flight it.

I can help you with a video if you want. I've been following this project since the beginning and I like it very much! Just send me a PM!

This looks an awesome download I look forward to seeing the finished product although she is looking pretty bang on to me.

As a Tilt Rotor Engineer, I have to say I am very impressed with your work. Flown the V-22 on the sim at Bell a couple of times, it has very unique handling characteristics that would be very difficult to duplicate.
New V-22 version in work right now.

Here's a pic from last week. The left nacelle has the new Inlet Barrier Filter, and the very cool new exhaust (it is round vs rectangular on the right).

Cheers!
David

I've been following this thread anxiously. It looks great and with all the support you have on this project should be outstanding when finished.
I knew once you hooked up with Rob Barendregt you would find what a nice and helpful person he is.
I live directly under a military flight corridor and get to see these birds fly low overhead on occasions. :)

Hi David,

Are you talking about a new real-life V22 version, or a new flightsim model ?? (I'm a bit confused)

As to your job as tiltrotor engineer and time in the Bell-V22simulator: are you interrested in doing a beta test when we are ready ??
The reason I ask:
.... it has very unique handling characteristics that would be very difficult to duplicate ....
I would even say it's impossible to duplicate properly ...LoL.
As you know, FSX/P3D wasn't designed with such VTOL-capable aircraft in mind, so what you can emulate in a "gauge-FDE" is quite limited.
So the main problem is, that one (me in this case) has to make the right simplifications (cause that's really what it is) to give a reasonable simulation in FSX/P3D.

And to do that, I really could use some additional input from people that have actual real-world knowledge about the V22.
Because the public information found of the Internet is pretty limited; most of it even secret, I presume, since the V22 is used by the military and even an on-going development.
Unlike for e.g. Harriers, on which you now can find dozens of documents (specifications, performance data, flight manuals, etc).

So when I try to emulate features like Conversion Protection and Vortex Wing State (just examples), or in fact the whole flight behavior in CONV / VTOL mode, most of the detail is just educated-guess work ...

Cheers, Rob

Real one Rob. I'm afraid I would add little value to your already developed work. However, I will ask around to see if any of the V-22 Flight Test guys do simming at home. That would be ideal.
I understand what you are saying. I could probably help you developing "failure modes".....but again.....it may make it too difficult for most to enjoy in the sim world.
Limited hover time on hot days, limited performance over "brown out" conditions, One Engine performance degradation, Avionics overheat.....stuff like that.

Yes, it certainly would be.
Thanks for your reply.

Hi David,

Thanks for your support,
As MV-22B half helicopter half airplane and yes this thing has many unix characteristic, I do many rework in flight dynamic. I do as much I can do. I never see real MV-22B, evenless fly with them. So we (Rob and I) need more advice with osprey characteristic.
For now we do as close as we can get, but in simplify.
For the limitation, maybe the next level, because Rob fight against FSX limitation. as user want to fly this in the first time without "annoying problem"(actually aircraft limitation) and we try to make all limitation as option for user. Simple think simple result, but hard in process. For sure we will get there...

For the model, as far I know the inlet barrier applied cause that osprey (N204TR) use as weapon test. It has missile on left side of cockpit. I have 1-2 pic N204TR, except your images. I thinking to make an armed Osprey. For now I thinking to make all the basic first, model, FDE, and Gauge.

For rounded exhaust engine cooling, I just know from you. I will gathering this information.

@Marc L : this is for freeware, as this forum give me free support. Donation ware maybe for another option.

Maryadi
