• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MV-22B Osprey

Oh man that is so awesome Kalong! Do you have a rough idea of when you want to release it? Or not focusing on that right now?
(P.S. My cousin flys with the VRC-30 Provider Squadron on C-2's Greyhounds. He told me they are currently preparing to transition to the V-22 Osprey and he has gotten some flights on the v-22. If you need pics of any part of the aircraft, up close or far, just let me know and I'll ask him) :)

WOW that Amazing !!! Congrats to your cousin.
Yes I need some picture, inside cabin actually, close and detail. But it Ok for now. Will going trough gauge, leave the model and focus on C++. If all minor and basic need to flight all covered, it will became beta.
Don't expect too much, cause I still beginner and need to learn more.
I hope to God this aircraft can be release not pass this year.

hey Kalong, I talked to my cousin and we need to know what part of the cockpit you need specifically that you need pictures of?

Hi Josh
I need picture for texture.
inside :
cargo wall, floor and ceiling. passenger seat fold and unfold
side door ( pilot door) from inside and around it.
around engineer seat. left, right and ceiling.
pilot seat with seat belt.
center windshield ( that have heater )
magnetic compass
center instrument console ( the side left and right side )

outside
wiper
1 blade ( front and back )
APU when it on fold and stow position.
GPU if it have and need

that all for now.
Thank you for your effort Josh, I very appreciated to you and your cousin.

Best Regards, Kalong

Range Test
I not know how to calculate fuel needed for a flight. then I using this flying in certain range ( airport to airport) to know how much fuel needed. this not accurate but quite close.

** LOOKING FOR BETA-TESTERS **

I'm writing this post on behalf of Maryadi ("kalong") too.

We almost have the V22-Osprey model, as discussed in this thread, in a state where we think it is usefull to share it with a few other people for beta-testing.
To verify we have made no major goof-up's, and that it works as intended on various platforms (Windows versions, FS versions).

As said in earlier posts, we decided to phase the development of this package, mainly since Maryadi's goal is to make this sim version as close to the real thing as possible (within the limitations of FS of course).
Meaning it's not fully functional yet, especially w.r.t. systems/instruments.

So, we are looking for 3-4 Beta-testers, preferably people that are willing and have the time to test it out fully, have some affection or knowledge with/about this aircraft, and are willing to give some (argumented) feedback.
Requirements:
- You have FSX (min. -SP2) or P3D.
- You have FSUIPC installed and working properly (FSUIPC registration not required).

If you are interrested: please PM Maryadi (user "kalong") your Email address, and which FSX/P3D version you are using.
The package will be in .zip format (NO auto-installer) and made available via a google-drive link; and we trust you keep it to yourself.
Availability of the beta: within 1 or 2 weeks from now.

Main things to be done yet for this first beta version:
- Solve some minor quircks on the functionality allready implemented.
- Make some preliminary documentation.

Best regards,

Rob & Maryadi

PS:
On a personal note, and in case you wonder why I write this post:
This V22 is Maryadi's development addon project; I'm only helping him with the VSTOL functionality and the testing/releasing.
Like a few other people on FS-Developer have helped him to get to the great level-of-design at which he is now. Thanks for that !!
And I can assure you that (IMHO) even in it's current beta-state, this addon package allready beats any V22-Osprey addon available today.

Congratulations on your progress on this project.
I was thinking of it a couple of days ago. I was driving down the 405 South near Long Beach CA the other day when a pair of MV-22's which had approached from the ocean crossed over the freeway heading inland to who knows where. I am quite familiar with seeing them much farther south around Camp Pendleton, but this is the first time I have ever seen them flying over the LA Metro area.
Having never seen one in the city before I figured there must be a reason that they don't fly there, so my first thought was that they could be on a RW mission. Since I never heard dany news on why they were there, it was probably a training profile of some sort, still very cool to see them and I wish I had had a camera with me.

Looking forward to this project coming to fruition, really amazing work.

Cheers
Gman

Thank Rob (rcbarend), I appreciated your effort.
As I'm focusing to finishing beta version and ask to Rob to help me with Beta tester announcement.

this not yet completed system/ instrumentation (as Rob said) compare to real MV-22B aircraft. but if this compare to payware version this far ahead from them.
and Later if this worth on not for you, I give option for freeware and Donationware as I buy MV-22B flight manual to build this.
your appreciation will give me and my family more passion to support and develop this aircraft.

Of course Big thanks to :
Naruto-Kun for xml and C++ mentor
rcbarend for VSTOL gauge
Some expert guys in this forum community.

For a long time now i have been longing for a highly detailed v-22 osprey and from the video and pictures I've seen, this one exceeded my expectations. I must say thank you for making it a reality. I am in no position to criticize but the prop textures are they going to be final or is it for the time being to me they are not very realistic also is there going to be a top down camera like rob has integrated into some other products. I'm just stating and opinion and asking a question. Again a wonderful product keep up the good work

Not sure why you state that the prop textures aren't very realistic; to me they look exactly like can be seen in many pictures/video's of the real aircraft.
But no doubt there are many liveries of the CV/MV-22B, which also probably include different paintschemes of the prop blades. Maybe that's what you refer too ?
As to my LookDown-camera: it's included in the package, but not activated in the panel.cfg by default; reason being that this gauge doesn't appear to work in some P3D versions (so I've heard). No clue why ...

prop texture.
in which one you mention? propeller when it stop (engine stop ) or texture prop when it turning?
if you refer to all my picture/ screen shoot above(when turning) then I got you mean, that unrealistic. result on screen shoot and in the Sim ( FSX and P3D) is different. screen shoot look like unrealistic. but if you fly it that differ. screen shoot only get 3 blade each engine (0 sec capture), but if it fly depend on engine RPM it will be appear 6 or more blade per engine. NO BODY PERFECT, and I accept every constructive advice.

LookDown-Camera
nope, I'm not implemented it. I avoid to use instrumentation on cockpit panel view. all gauge place in Virtual cockpit ( to get as real as it can get) except for test purpose. in P3D can handle Virtual cockpit camera (not yet learn it from P3D SDK,but I have a clue) but not in FSX. FSX can handle camera view only on cockpit panel view with certain limitation (behind camera gauge there must clear). that information I got from internet.
if there a chance to use camera in Virtual cockpit, especially in FSX. please let me know, or contact me or somebody have the gauge and give me opportunity to implemented on my aircraft VC gauge camera I will appreciated.
camera gauge will implemented it as I prepare space for camera gauge on PFD/MFD, if there available gauge to do both in FSX or P3D. but that for later time, when time is came. as only me and Rob build this aircraft ( Naruto-Kun guide me fo C++ gauge), more over we have real work to do.
how to land in aircraft carrier (WASP-class aircraft carrier) without camera look down. just google it there many video out there how to land on carrier/spot with AV-8 harrier, F-35 and MV-22B, easy but you need a practice.
how to lift external load like EH 101 did in FSX?? it would go there .. and again when time is come

everything real aircraft can do, I try to make it real in flight sim. in condition:
1. GOD still give a life, time and chance.
2. FSX/P3D can accept code beyond his limitation.
3. Your support

As desperate as I'm to get my hands you your product, I'm not qualified to beta test this bird. I could only play with it perhaps once a week because I have a day job, and even tho I consider my self an observant individual, I have no extensive knowledge of the MV-22 to be able to spot, Procedural or performance issues. Waiting Anxiously!!!

Hi everybody

please be patient bit longer. Me and Rob found additional issue when last check on beta. if not solved it, we will note it on documentation.
we have 1-2 week range of time to finalize the beta. Likewise when try it as beta it have 1-2 week to test, so that not force you to test it everyday, just use your spare time to test.

** UPDATE on the Beta **

The good news is, that we have probably figured out a problem now that I've struggled with for weeks:
The specs of the real MV22 state, that the MV22-B can do a short takeoff at nacelles angle 75 degrees and total weight 57.000 lbs at 15-20 Knots airspeed, while the weight limit for a true zero-speed VTOL takeoff is appr. 52.000 lbs.
Most probable explanation: the nacelles-dependant rotorwash direction over the wings, which has a hugh impact on VTOL/STOL takeoff performance.
For people reading this, it may sound insignificant.
But for me as a designer, it's another major break-through in trying to improve my VSTOL gauge for such an aircraft-flightmodel in FSX/P3D to the next level.
Just another example of the detail of realisme we strive for with this MV22-B package.

The bad news is, that I like to properly implement/test this myself first because it considerably impacts my algoritme for the whole VSTOL flightenvelope; which will delay the beta test package a bit.
Sorry, but I'm sure you'll understand ..

I've always felt that being willing to go back and improve on what you have done makes all the difference in the final product even though it often involves significant re-work. That's why my projects take so long to reach the finish line.
I work very close to North Island Naval Air Station in San Diego, CA. I see Ospreys fly by quite often. I would offer that the texture for the blurred prop/rotor currently looks dark to me. I would give it a bit more transparency. :twocents:

Hey Kalong, Update on those pics for the MV-22 from my cousin.
I contacted him asking to take some photos of the MV-22 he had been flying on. He responded back that he is rather reluctant to take photos of the aircraft because he said it is a very particular v-22 he is flying on right now and is afraid to release any photos without security clearance (his words), (and i think I know what variant v-22 he is talking about lol). I could probably get him to take a photo of blade and possibly the cargo area, but I dont think the cockpit photos is gonna fly with him lol. Ill see what I can do.
