• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

That's not us! Our project has been sleeping for quite some time now. I'm waiting on a couple of PC upgrades. We have gone underground with the project, all updates and information is in a hidden facebook group, nothing has materialized as of now, life drama and other things but everything is working quietly.

We are also no longer aliased with HJG, as HJG has dropped the project due to the lack of updates, which is understandable.

Does this mean that the cockpit's construction is underway? :D We're all very eager to see what it will look like.

What you guys will see me working is the VC up to a point but where I left off on the external model was correcting a wing twist issue that someone spotted, that means throw away the old wing root and wings and start over from scratch...so instead of wasting any more time on the external model, I just opted to dive into the VC. I had something some what done but I sadly, I lost it when I switched over to Windows 8 ... I couldn't be arsed to start over so I sort of lost interest...but now, yeah, let's start all over....I have to set my PC up for flight sim development again because at the moment, I'm missing a lot of stuff.

I start tonight on the VC! Using the many photographs I have, it's all about creating a 'spline cage' of the entire thing.....only when I have fully created every component in splines will I begin to materialize it all with actual primitive objects and shaping stuff....if I have anything to show at the end of the night, even if it looks bad, i'll post it here!

About the wing twist issue...before you delete your entire wing, there may be a way to "twist" it into the desired position, if Gmax allows this: What you could do is select every object that makes up your wing (flaps, ailerons, spoilers, gear doors and all those minuscule little parts) and apply a Twist or FFD modifier to the whole thing. It SHOULD keep all of your animations intact, but again, I don't know if you can do this in Gmax...It may be one of those Max-only tricks. It's worth a try though, and way easier than starting from scratch again.

thanks for the tip ozzman but the wing twist on the DC8 is more involved then that! the wing has a unique profile outwards from the root to the wing tip and you can't just fix it by twisting it...its not even a wing twist, it's more of a leading leading edge twist......the leading edge starts centered at the root and then moves downward, it's it is barely noticeable and most developers have ignored it but you know me, it's gotta look at least right!

For this weeks updates, I really haven't much to show but hopefully next week, things will pick up! :)

Mr.Faos, I was wondering multiple things, one, are you gonna upload the DC-8 in Service Packs, meaning SP1 being just exterior, SP2 wingviews, SP3 VC, etc., two, is it gonna be compatible with the current liveries, three, could you possibly add the pax cabin as maybe a little goody, and finally, for model releases, I suggest first releasing the 70(duh), then the 60, then the 30, then the 50, then the 10 and 20, and finally the 40(because it's the most obscure).

Service packs, I don't know, that doesn't sound like a good idea to me. I find that users of a product tend to loose their enthusiasm when they have too much to do to get something to work. There will be an [exterior model with wing views] a model with a vc and then a full blown model with vc, cabin and wing views but this is only going to be possible for the FSX version unfortunately. I have high hopes but I'm not holding my breath that something of that complexity would compile for FS9.

Sorry to everyone for the lack of updates but I'm planning a big move this September, about a 1,200 mile journey from where I live, yes to live in a new place and I am focused on that right now.

Martij has been working on the performance calculation software, currently under testing.

Well, as soon as you finish the exterior, I'd suggest to hand over the paint kit over to HJG so they can start cranking out textures to have plenty to begin with. And there are plenty planes for FS2004 with full blown VCs, but I think you should release Service Packs, i.e, first just an exterior, then a 3D flight deck with panel, then finally a full blown VC with cabin, wingviews and everything. But JustFlight is gonna release their DC-8 50 to 70 soon, so that should hold me off. And after you make the 10 to 50 fuselage, you will really just have to tweak the engines and wings.

well HJG sort off pulled the plug on me for the lack of updates and that is understandable. I am no longer part of HJG and last time I checked, I wasn't on the roster anymore. I stop by from time to time but I'm not on there like I used to be. I am happy to have had the chance to paint a few liveries for their customers :) HJG was a wonderful experience. I was however, informed that if and when the project was completed, that I would be invited to "house" the DC8 with them. I have my own small team working on the DC8 with me right now and so far it looks like the team wants to complete the DC8 and release it as our own. As you said, I can see ourselves releasing service packs to address certain issues I guess.

There is too much to fix on the exterior model right now, so I've been focused on just the VC, just a raw design with no textures and then get back to the exterior. I've received a lot of discouraging comments about the project of people telling me I don't have what it takes and the like. Just look through this forum and watch how beautiful our DC8 model is and how much love I put into it. I know what I'm doing and I'm taking my time with it and since we aren't on a dead line, we are going to take our sweet time with it so that it works beautifully.

We won't be releasing no half-baked model that's for sure.
