• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I've built this bridge for my new project, but the behaviour of the texture or normals are confusing me. When i open the 3D in MCX some lite angled surfaces shows brighter then the horizontal parts. Physically it makes sense for me.
I still don't understand why they look so different. I tried different solutions with normals, but it doesn't satisfy me.
I use Blender 2.82

If you are satisfied with the normal, making absolutlely sure they are all pointing in the same direction (outside), try to rotate or Better mirror the unwrapped texture
This issue Is often generated using the Blender modifier (mirror/Array)

May i ask you the reason why are you going through mcx for a object you have created in Blender? Can't you Just export It with the proper tool and directly see the result in the Sim (you did mention what Sim you are working on either the format you are exporting from Blender)

You might wish to use a more updated version of Blender also. There were fixes with normals or polygons since then. Either version v2.83 LTS or v2.93 LTS would be best and the toolset works with both.

Nothing helped. Tried to rotate, mirrored it and even deleted my UVs and wrapped it new. There is something worng. Im not sure if it is my model or somthing in my new installed blender 2.93.
With the new unwrapp i fixed my black surface on one side of the bridge. Maybe i try it with a new clean build next to it to compare it.

I like to use MCX for a quick fast view if everything is correct. It is easier and faster to start MCX than MSFS. If everything is okay, i copy the file into my library and later place it in MSFS.
