• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    Hi, When generating GPs for V5 using ADE v1.79.7417, and I add a bump texture without material settings, the default result is the GP using the diffuse (day) texture as emissive, therefore the textures are bright at night. Problem goes away if I create a dark LM texture, but I double the size...

    The difference is that GMAX is free, and 3DS is very expensive to get a license, so unless you have a big payware company sponsoring your license it would make no sense. You would need to sell a lot to just pay for a one year licence. But of course, I suspect that a lot of smaller developers...

    Assuming your scenery file is not too large....just open the texture folder and open every texture until you find the one that has the building you want, and edit it directly.

    Mine look a lot dimmer, unless I increase the bloom a lot....but then everything else looks funny. Gonna do the hotfix and try again.

    Quick question. This is my first time developing in P3D v5, and was wondering if the model processing (post v4.5) has affected LOD created lighting (as in runway lights). My 3D lights work fine from FSX through P3D v4.0, (have not tried v4.4), but on v5 they look very dim,and the LOD "effect"...

    Disregard Don, the GP.bgl worked fine with your fix. The only open issue is the manipulation of the vertices. Thanks a lot for your help! David

    It did not work Don. The speculuar and bump continue to be moved to the correct scenery folder, but they will not "attach"to the bgl model. In addition, within the GP module, I can no longer move/rotate the polygon when I select all vertices (or even a single vertex).

    I never had V4, I jumped from V3 to v5. I compared the material settings on the latest MCX vs ADE and did not see a difference, but MCX does compile the specular/bump. David

    Don, it seems this issue may be back in version 1.79.7417 The specular and bump textures copy to their scenery destination correctly, but the bump/specular effect will not display. When I open with MCX, I also noticed that the specular/bump textures are not attached. I'm using V5. Thanks, David

    Have you opened the OSM data file to verify the shapefiles are there, and their description flag?

    Lights not showing above ground polygon

    These are not default lights, so punching holes on photoreal will not work. How did you make the lights? Do they have bloom and ground reflection?
