• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    MCX CFG point preview

Update... Found that I had "CollapseModelParts" set to "false" in the options. If that's set to "true" the point display in the correct place.

    MCX CFG point preview

Hi Arno, using the current dev release, the position of the cfg points in the display window are in the wrong place. Looks like the Z and Y values are swapped.

    Material Editor, Hightlight Selected

I've not noticed the first problem, but for the second, I usually switch to wireframe or coloured render mode.

P3D v3 General questions about aircraft lighting...

With P3dv3, light fx called up in the aircraft.cfg behave oddly, seeming to scale inversely with the distance to the viewer. Light fx called up in the mdl itself, or defined in the [smokesystem] section of the aircraft.cfg behave correctly.

    Merging MDLs with visibility problem

Yep, that's pretty much how I got around it. Seems odd that MSX will import, and display correctly, the mdl that P3d won't though.

    Merging MDLs with visibility problem

Hi Arno, hope you had a good Christmas and New Year. Yesterday, I encountered an odd issue with MCX. I was working on converting an old FS9 model to P3d native. That basic conversion worked fine, no problem there. Next I wanted to add some simple external stores with visibility controlled by...

    FSX Texture Alignment Problem

Check your bitmap format. I normally use Photoshop PSD files, but I've noticed that some other formats will appear displaced in Gmax/Max although they appear fine in the sim.

    Aircraft.cfg editor

Great work Arno, this is much appreciated. :)

    Reading aircraft.cfg files

I use notepad++ BTW with the latest version of MCX it won't load a MDL unless the MDL is referenced in the model.cfg. I had 2 MDLs in a folder I was working on, one was an original FS9 MDL, & the other one converted to FSX native. The FSX mdl was called up in the model.cfg and would load OK...

    Reading aircraft.cfg files

Hi Arno. Seems to read the cfg OK here. A couple of suggestions, if I may. How about different colours for lights, contact points etc, maybe customisable in the options. Also a button to quickly re-scan the cfg for changes without doing a full reload would be handy if MCX isn't going to get...

    Aircraft.cfg questions

I'd say that contact point entry is invalid. As it's a scrape point (class 2) for the wingtip I doubt if anybody has noticed it doesn't work!

    New MCX MDL export problems

Just had this happen to me as well. My modeldef doesn't have any duplicate entries, but the temporary one created by MCX on export does.

    Anti-piracy measures

BTW, i've kept the previous version of MCX, so I'll probably just keep using that one for now. Quite often I like to mod or tweak stuff for my own use which will now no longer be possible. I'm not bothered about my own models, as I have the source files for those, I can make any changes in...

    Anti-piracy measures

Definitely pointing to the correct modeldef. It seems to be finding all the custom animations OK, at least none are showing as "custom" which would indicate it can't find the entry. It may be a mouse-rect or visibility tag that's missing or not being picked up but I don't know if there is a way...

    Anti-piracy measures

I've opened several of my own models with MCX & most cause the anti-piracy message to be displayed. They do contain a lot of custom animations, but the entries are in the modeldef & MCX isn't showing any as "custom_anim"

    MCX Feature suggestion

Thanks for considering it. MCX is a great tool, I don't there's a day go by where I don't use it for something.

    MCX Feature suggestion

Hi Arno, have you considered adding a UVW viewer to MCX? It would come in very handy when repainting models to find out just where on the texture map some parts are.

    Max Defiant Project

I must admit I was unfamiliar with the P.94, so had to do a bit of Googling! Very interesting. Nice work so far. Looking forward to seeing how this progresses.:)

    Max Defiant Project

Looks like a Boulton Paul Defiant, but without the turret modelled yet. (fingers crossed it is!)

    Hierarchy viewer filtering

Thanks Arno, I'll check it out this evening.:)
