• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Airbus A350 XWB

I believe that's a bit different to do in Blender compared to Max/Gmax but it can be done.

I think it can be done using the transform orientation...

Also a few days ago I noticed this:

Tried a lot of thing to make it look like that but without any good results...

In fact Blender does not support the rotation of pivots. One would have to rotate the whole thing and then rotate the mesh back. It is much easier to align a bone to the leading edge oft the flap.

True, but if can be done... ;)

Anyway my problem list is growing:

first off:

That's not right... Gonna have to think a while on how to fix this dent...

While I'm dealing with the belly problem (probably need to recreat the wing, again) I made this aswell...

So I've now recreated the wings and everything with it (flaps, slats and ailerons...) Now going to cut out the gear doors, although it's difficult to do when just one door is on the blueprint, and not accuratly either...

So little by little, part by parts she's coming together. This time I present to you the Ram Air Turbine (RAT):

Nice little detail! Too bad we won't see that very often (well I dear hope so ;) ) Good to see that the rough shape is there, so now it's time for all the details, like tubes and antennas everywhere. Make sure you don't forget the wipers ;)

You think I'd forget that... ;)

True, but I can't really judge the FPS hit yet since I still need ti add a lot of details (the cockpit with crew for example) and I'll still need to abimate all the parts, witch I guess also might make an FPS hit.

I'm not a real developer, but isn't it better to make the spring as a cilinder and use textures to make it look like a spring? Because looking at the distance between the coils, this can't be a very tough spring, I would imagine a spring that is on a landing gear of a big airliner should be very tough with the coils close to eachother.

I might need to redo it, but I think itis relatively normal to make a spring like this...

The spring adds way too many ultimately unnecessary polygons. You can model a spring on a GA aircraft or a warbird, but not on an airliner. Roel's suggestion with a transparent spring texture on a cylinder is much better.

Okay, I'll do that then ;) also I'll take another look at how I'l do that... Some parts are a real dillima between FPS and details...

Oh, and pray you don't have to animate the spring. :yikes:

Ain't I lucky I wont have.... ;) I'll have another look at how and what with the spring at a later note, though after checking some FSX reference I came to the conclusion Roel is absolutely right about the texture spring istead of a psychical one...
