• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Aerial Imagery: (c) 2017 Freie und Hansestadt Hamburg, Landesbetrieb Geoinformation und Vermessung // dl-de-by-2.0

(c) All Other textures are made by myself

small Update:

after modifying some things ...now it looks more realistic... not final, but near to this.

Need to model several low poly cars and fillers etc for the apron / parking area ... started with night textures ... also started to learn dynamic lights (only testing @ this moment) ... the same with animation .... working on low poly harbor .... many many to do ...

Enjoy ,)

Looks indeed fabulous.
Your work though seems to be a lot better than the photoreal. You may want to adapt the colors a bit there.

Dear Roby,

you were totally right and i have just changed the settings a bit and see below the result.
This is more harmonized with the surrounding area.

Now i have to play with my 3D grass texture to match this new photoreal...in process!

Gee, you are doing a heck of a job here.
Really, I do not believe my eyes when seeing your screenshots.
How much time are you spending on this???
Are you unemployed or something and have apnea:)?
All those elevation differences must also be a lot of work to get it right (do not forget to tell people that they have to set their mesh resolution at 1m)!
Just one question: how about the seasons? I mean it is Germany and you can expect snow in wintertime and if you put in 3D grass.....what will winter look like? You can freeze the water with blend masks but (at least) I, have no idea how to have seasonal grass textures in P3D (v4?).

A bit confused here.
Do we have two Finkenwerders in development?
Just watched the other thread that does not seem to be Mister Gee's ?
In which case you also may have to work a tiny little bit more on the texturing of the main airport buildings (no or only little transparency, just window photo textures if possible).
Once done that (who cares about SODE driven windsocks) your scenery will certainly match the other (being nicer in some parts and lacking in others).
A pity you are not working together.

Dear Roby,

.. in the week totally maximum 4 – 5 days, but work days after sports etc… and on weekend more time.

You know normally I have used this time to fly with VATsim but …. At the moment I do not have any time for that and maybe I forgot to ask ATC correctly for clearance.. hehe.

…haha.. no I work in export logistics …

Mesh settings 5 m is enough.

For me, one of the most important details of EDHI airport is the elevation. Nearly the whole airport is surrounded from water and this was for me the challenge to reach a level of reality without performance destruction. At the moment performance works really fine and my main attention is focused regarding draw call batching and lods and low poly designing.

Yes, maybe it will be easier to create my home airport EDFM but now I have to finish this project … hopefully soon!

That is a good question! So I have to make a new test…. I use a texture which is over the photoreal which I have created after a lot of testing and now it looks like real gras (see below picture) but this shows only static, when you fly over this looks amazing… I have to make a video … in the new year!

You can freeze the water with blend masks but (at least) I, have no idea how to have seasonal grass textures in P3D (v4?).

My 3D gras is a ground poly so there is no problem with seasonal.

A bit confused here.

Yes we have.

Of course you were right but I have not decided at the moment if I go to the inside texturing… make some testing at the moment but not ready to show and limited time!

Yes, but no matter they have just finished and the scenery designer Dieter Kreiskott has made a real good job!!

Have a nice evening

Gerry

PS: A small new update will come next weekend and then I have to stop scenery design till beginning of next year to enjoy Christmas time.

3D gras with OLD texture! (working on new..)
