• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Global AI Ship Traffic FSX, P3D and MSFS2020

Finally, we started testing an adapted version of GAIST with MSFS 2024. Below screenshots are using the MSFS 2024 live data with models from GAIST

And finally some misplaced ships --- yes, there should be two similar tankers, but they should be moored in parallel

I am hopeful we can launch before or around Christmas

I'll come out as a huge fan of your work!

Now that the ships are finally rocking in the waves, the good times of seafaring are beginning in MSFS24. It's going to be wonderful, thanks a million Henrik :)
If I can express one tiny wish. In the North Sea, the ships sometimes sail right through the wind farms. Is there even the slightest chance that this will be corrected?

Now with the live traffic the ships should hopefully avoid the wind farms... else we have double problem.... For the BGL file if someone has a windfarm kml that I can overlay in Google Earth it should be possible to correct those routes. Some of the routes are so old that there were hardly no offshore windfarms at the time... GAIST was started when my son was a boy and we were flying together to far away places in the simulator - now he is a young man.

All right, I wasn't aware of the outdated routes, and now that you've mentioned it, it makes sense.
I do have the relevant material, but it doesn't belong to me, so I'm not allowed to give it out. But there are open data sets and I found a shape file on the site:

I have sent you the material (Shapefile and KML File) via PM, including the sources. Maybe it will help :)

And that is the route overlay :D That was excellent. I might fix some right away in the train to work :D

Is there a chance that GAIST will eventually become available in the Flight Simulator 2024 marketplace? I think it would be really convenient to have the models streamed in on an as-needed basis! (My hard drive is running low on space. :P)

Also, has anyone noticed if there's a way to toggle live air traffic off, but keep live boat traffic on? I'd prefer to see only multiplayer traffic in the air, but I think having live boat traffic could really add to the immersion!

For me at least the Gaya in game ships are so huge each one is taking over a minute to manifest via streaming so any local option is welcome. But I do have very, very slow internet.

It would require a debranding on a lot of ships, so it is not my first priority. Next, once you put something on the marketplace you need to give product support. GAIST is not a "product" - it is a community project where a lot of people have contributed with models, repaints, testing, or just simply helping other users on community fora - I don't have any intention to change that and I have definitely no intention on giving commercial product support beyond what I do from time to time in the fora. I think the last weeks discussion after the launch of MSFS 2024 just emphasize how nasty it can become when you are out selling your products on a complex fast evolving platform.

Ah, that makes sense! Totally understandable. :)
