It seems all the old vBulletin style links are broken (from before we moved to XenForo). I tried to install an addon to fix that, but the addon didn't work. I'll try to have another look later on.

Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:
- Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
- Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
- Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
- Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
- Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
- Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.
Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.
By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.
FS2004 MCX Bgl compiling help - INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR C1003 [FIXED]

Congratulations, Leo, that was very diligent troubleshooting ! 
I must say that I had a hunch in the middle of the night, when I remembered your prior mention of editing FS9 "voice" entries as one of your 'things to do' in a thread over at PTSIM (...IIRC, at the end of the PTT scenery thread).
Having seen at least one thread in each my Google search results yesterday that mentioned "FS2004" and "FS9" and editing "voice" entries in the context of a "MSXML" query, I was going to research that today ...as a 'possible' factor in the onset of your troubles with MSXML.
I'm glad you discovered that factor, and were able to restore normal functionality without rebuilding either FS or Windows.

That issue regarding my ATC callsigns you probably remember me mentioning somewhere has actually nothing to do with the ATC FS9 SDK, but with an issue with EditVoicepack. But I'm 'saving' that problem to solve it at a later date since it has no implications on anything other than a good chunk of AI traffic not having their airline callsigns spoken (which I can live with for the time being..)
Still nice catch, the fact you remembered something that I once mentioned somewhere!

It seems that in the first 2 posts the posters were mixing up EditVoicepack [EVP] (which is a 3rd party developed by Lars and whose only function is to add callsigns and optionally accelerate the spoken words to FS9) with the FS9 ATC Voicepack SDK
; which if I'm correct, are used to create new callsigns! EVP doesn't use, install, or need msxml4 
In the 3rd post you linked I think that's what jvile was also noting

I have not researched this in further detail, but it seems that 'Registry pointers' to install locations of specific numeric versions of MSXML DLLs are suspect, and another suspect is the fact that registering either newer or older numeric versions of the MSXML DLLs seems to be 'pre-empted' by what numeric version of the DLL was last registered via regsvr32.exe ?
Might this also be related to install locations of specific numeric versions ?
Can one not have more than one install location of specific numeric versions of the MSXML DLL which exist "side-by-side" in Windows ?
I presume the answer is "yes", since on my other computers I have both MSXML versions 3 and 4 installed, and I have no such problems.
Are all numeric versions of the MSXML DLLs registered via regsvr32.exe fighting for use of the same (single ?) Windows system variable value when the FS SDK compiler runs ?
This is classic "DLL Hell" !

Well I wouldn't really know any of that
I also have msxml 3 and 6 installed, together with 4, but I think the problem is that, for some reason, even if you have msxml 4 installed previously to install the ATC SDK, the installation of said SDK 'overwrites' or changes something in the msxml 4 installation. And for some reason, that 'something' makes it so that it can't be overwritten or deleted when you try to install/uninstall with the original Microsoft MSXML 4 installer
Classic or not, it is indeed hell!
And like arcueil noted in the post I found that helped me; If I who am quite tech savy on a 'superficial' level, but not on a deeper level (code/programming/so on..), had such a hard time figuring and solving this out; how is a person who knows just enough about computers to use the many scenery design tools for FS expected to figure this out before he/she either nukes their setup, or throws it out the window altogether??
Also just like arcueil said, I hate hate hate hate Windows! I've always used MacOS since my first computer, and only installed using windows for FS and other games!
But I don't wanna start ranting again
