• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

What Irritates you about ADE?

Add Library Object - I've just realised this is a bit of an irritant. I want to add a load of different model cars to a car park. I rt click, select Add, Library Objects, search for a suitable vehicle and click add. This closes the dialogue, and to add the next car, I have to repeat the whole procedure. It would be so much easier if Add just dropped the item and stayed open. Perhaps a little tweak so the added objects were offset slightly to make them easy to pick up.

Alternatively, how about being able to make multiple selections in the object list.

Thanks Jon,

Martin

i love ade and all of the stuff it has...very cheap and simple airport creating machine...but...somewhere along the way soemthing screwed up...its the LOM ive added a and removed bgl's about 5,000000 times (exxagerating sp?) and each time its kinda sucks with the image adding and having the image marry up with its bgl but it is nearly impossible....if it could be made better than i would greatly love that

I agree that the LOM needs work and it is on the list to do in the near future :)

Could there be a way to mass edit scenery objects or atleast the "scenery density", no shadows, no crash detect flags? I recently had some 900+ lights with No Crash Detect turned off and had to turn it on and the same for the shadows.

Luckily, I used Word to Find and Replace the edits in the xml. But when I compiled it, I lost the cvx and gp bgls, which wasn't a problem since I knew how to get them back. I am glad I am done with that portion of the airport, the cvx and gp portions.

Yes. I have multiple edit on the list for scenery objects. Not sure if it will get into the next main version but certainly in the one after that.

When one edits from a list, on return, the same item is selected but it is always at the bottom of the list.

Could the list order be retained but the selected item appear at the top of the list?

Not sure George but I will add it to the list of jobs for Lists.....

Hi Jon,

I loaded an older ade file (NSTU) in which I had included a lot of models (not library objects).
I had stored the mdl's in the scenery folder of my airport together with the ADE bgl's.
ADE complained it could not compile because of unknown model data.
I checked in the model list and the models were there and the path was correct (I thought) but still ADE did not want to compile the ade object bgl.
Had to use the old obj.bgl.
Turns out that fsx on my new computer is installed in Program Files (X86)\Microsoft games\.....
Would it be possible to make this model listing and path finding a little bit more 'intelligent'? Or could it be made possible to "batch change" all of the model paths to the new one?

Roby

You can change them individually but I will look at making a batch change Roby

Another problem with lists.

If I delete a bunch of taxi-links from the list, it leaves the nodes even if they are orphaned.

The only practical way to delete orphan links is via the Fault-finder and it is not possible to multi-select.

I asssume that orphan nodes are never a good idea? If so I can arrange to automatically delete them......

OK - I have added a task to delete orphan nodes after links are deleted.

Another for lists.

I wish to change all taxi-links to paths, but multiple selection only allows one to set the type to the first selected!

Set to first, doesn't, it changes only the colour.

Yep - multi select is a mess and does not work at all well. I have it on the list to sort it out.

I was able to set the lining and lighting using multi-select. The only thing I couldn't do was change a taxi to a path.

The only problem is I now need to do about 1000 edits to change the types :(

I am working on it George. I am completely re-writing the Lister code and also using a new list.

George I will see if I can put a fix into a development version for you to change types
