• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

What Irritates you about ADE?

1. When clicking multiple taxi links (the lines between the dots) to make them straight, if you misclick one, you have to start again from the first link. It is quite frustrating when you have many small links to click.
This should be fixed in the current version - now providing you keep the shift key down misclicking won't cancel the selection

To clarify, I do hold down the shift button to select multiple links, but should I misclick a link, I can continue to select multiple links. However, the option to straighten is no longer available, or if I wanted to edit them, clicking Edit does no good. Also, if I do not click the links in sequential order, I do not get the Straighten option.

If I click only the links, I get the Straighten option (and clicking Edit results in a Properties window).

If I click one link, then click something other than the link (in this case, the background), then click the second link, I no longer have the option (and clicking Edit does NOT result in a Properties window).

Welll you will only get the straighten links if all the items selected are links. If you accidentally click something else with the shift key down then clicking it again with the shift key down will uncheck it.

Yes I do. But it's not confined to the LOM. When I'm connected to FSX at any time and for no observable reason any window box that opens to allow an edit may suddenly take 60 seconds or longer to close when you click ok or cancel. Most of the time no problem. Then all of a sudden you are waiting. I thought it had something to do with my giant KATL project. But I will be glad when the connect/disconnect buttons are back for this reason. I am now in the habit of disconnecting when I want to edit something(well most of the time).
Ed

That's interesting. When I encountered the delay, the disconnect button also would not work. I just got the update that eliminates the button.

Yes Art that's true. ADE stops until the box closes. I have gotten the box to disappear by switching to FSX and back to ADE, but ADE is still stuck until it finally finishes the task. Like you I have found that once the ADE is hung up you can't disconnect to free up ADE.
I straighten the links then use the nudge feature in ProKey to slightly misalign the taxi points. You can of course carefully move one with the mouse or manually set the Lat/Lon coordinates slightly off.

0.01m or 4 inches for the imperial users

Ooops - your imperials are better than my imperials George ;)

0.01m would be 1cm or almost .4 inches but 13/32's of an inch is more than .4 inches:).
Is ADE calculating in metric or imperia:confused:l? I guess the former because when I set my airport or flatten elevations at say 506ft, I very often see it converted to 506.001 ft.
The craziest of all is that when you hover your mouse over the vertex it says 506 m!???

ADE stores all dimensional data in meters. Generally it is a double so there are lots of decimal places. I guess an issue might be where the value is rounded for display

That is a bug Roby

I don't know what those green diamonds are called that appear using Add Aprons ? Whatever, I wish they were much smaller. Now you'll say they can be resized ! but I really find them too big when doing small areas.

I seem to remember Afcad's were small & I had no trouble using them. Other than that, my use of ADE is basic by most people's standards I suspect & I think it's a great addition ;-)

I use FS9 with Golden Wings3 by the way.

Terry,

If you only use the Z key,you can make it so small that you hardly see them.

Jan

That is a vertex :)

As Jan says - check the toolt ip when your cursor is over a vertex. It will tell you what keys change the size. Z will make them smaller, Shift+Z will make them bigger and Alt+Z will return them to the default size.

Talking about the vertex. Am I the only one that gets two vertex on top each other when I double click the mouse and close the apron? This does not happen all the time but I have to check each apron, poly, shape (any thing that uses vertex) after I double click to be sure only one vertex exist.

These two pictures show the 4 sided apron has a extra vertex 004 in the upper right corner. The count should be 000 to 003. I started in the upper left and went counter clockwise. Since I know that a extra vertex was placed I have to drag it off the top of 003 and delete it. Its annoying to check every ending of a draw that uses vertex. If I am the only one that has this problem could it be my mouse making a double click internal?

No, Jim, you are not the only one.
I am in the meantime used to it and check the vertices on their numbers.
Glad you raised that issue (though it does not bother me anymore because I know it will happen beforehand) as I thought I had too many at my happy hour:).
You have to double click before you have reached the one you connect to!

That I don't understand. I have seen that statement before but I don't connect to anything. looking at my picture I click once in the top left corner, once in the bottom left, once in the bottom right and now I double click the upper right. This auto completes the rectangle but the upper right as my picture shows gets 2 vertex (003 and 004 with 004 on top).

The same applies to anything that uses vertex such as poly's, vector shapes, fences, aprons, etc.

Yes, that is the way to do it. But that double clicking that last vertex is what sometimes gives you problems because you are inclined to click once more to put the 4th vertex in and then double click!

I've had it occasionally.
I'm sure it's just my twitchy finger the odd time it does it.

I don't see that as a problem for me. I grew up using AFCAD for FS2002 and FS2004. Jon coded ADE the same as AFCAD. I simply double click the last vertex that will close the apron. I have tried to change the timing between the double click. Tried slightly moving the mouse. In fact I have tried everything I know and still get a extra vertex on top the last one that gets the double click.

It does not happen all the time but enough that I always have to check that last vertex to be sure one is not on top the other. The first vertex number is 000. Any 4 sided poly such as a apron or landclass has 4 vertex but the last one is number 003. My picture shows I have a 004 and under it is the 003. this has been a problem for me since the early days of ADE developement but like you said I also have learn to live with it.
