• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

What Irritates you about ADE?

Hi Scruffyduck,
As I think most people are having this problem:
The problem is: I've created a FlattenExcludeAutogen polygon and a FreewayTraffic vector.
When I compile them, I just get the in the CVX the polygon drawed, but don't get the freeway traffic line at all.

Is there a fix for this?

My pet whinge is about Lists->Taxi-links.

Why are "Index" and "Name#" included whereas markings and lights do not appear?

Space? So you would leave out index and name - I see that, it would need 6 columns to display lights and markings I think

Unfortunately this has been a problem with ADE since the start. Freeway traffic does not work. I use third party code to generate terrain features and unfortunately neither the author or the ACES team could figure out why it didn't work. At some point I need to replace the third party code with my own, but I am not sure when

There is plenty of space for another 10 columns. You could also remove "Comments":

Or, how about right-click on the header bar and "Select Columns" ;)

Now that is an interesting one George - I will add that to the list :)

Hey, we are (here at the least) in the FSU (the FS Universe) and not in the Disney Universe.
As for George's comments, I regret to say I do agree once more with what he says:(.
it is not a complaint but a suggestion because it could come in handy some time.
Roby

PS(so that you know it is me): do not forget, Jon, that the list > gp_objects does not center on the gp_object any longer. That makes it hard to find it back if you have a lot of them.

I have the one about the non centering GP list Roby and it is right next to the one to allow users to select columns. I assume that y'all would want ADE to remember the columns you want to see between sessions?

Hi Jon,

No, the columns should be pertinent to the kind of things you would want to show up. Difficult once more to explain but say you would want some more info on links, then the links should not show up the same kind of listing choices that for instance the aprons or the objects would have.

I think it would be convenient if we can click on airplane marker and there is a drop list menu what you are going to add to this position: node, parking, or mdl object and those object takes coordinate of airplane maker (not the cursor) . It would be precise object placing like the way ObPlacer does. Dragging over airplane marker is not accurate enough.

That is a good idea. I will add that to my list and see what I can do. However in the meantime you could select an object and use Move to Aircraft from the right click menu - that is accurate to place something where the aircraft is.

I use "M" to place a marker at the aircraft position, add an object then copy/paste the marker coordinates to the object.

Yes George, I did that too. But I don't think it is convenient enough, you need to copy coordinates twice lat and long.

There is a copy coordinates option in the Right Click Menu but perhaps that is only with the ProKey

Hi,

My pet peeve is that ADE is not displaying what displays in FS2004 (it's not WYSIWYG). Here is a small macadam apron in ADE:

ade_macadam-jpg.18110

and here is the same apron in FS9 (not the same color at all - FS9 uses Concrete for Macadam aprons):

fs9_macadam-jpg.18112

Also, runway marking are not the same. Here is what is displayed in ADE when you turn on Fixed Distance markings (nothing appears):

ade_runway-jpg.18111

and here they are in FS9:

fs9_runway-jpg.18113

You asked... :)

Hope this helps,

It would be nice if we could adjust the color, or at least the transparency of ground polys on the ADE display.

This will make it easier to line them up with background images.

Or did I miss this somewhere?

cheers,
Lane

My two pet peeves (I know you asked for one) are:

1. When clicking multiple taxi links (the lines between the dots) to make them straight, if you misclick one, you have to start again from the first link. It is quite frustrating when you have many small links to click.

2. When you assign an airline to a parking spot and it changes from default green to purple (for example), you cannot make that new color have any transparency.

3. As a bonus pet peeve, when you move your mouse over the edges of a background image, the border highlights a bright thick pink line. It's nice when you are moving the images around, but it should be disabled when the image is locked or something.
